This blog is a strange place for me to get used to. Straddling the line between writing in a private journal and being published in a public space where everyone will see. I guess that's a little presumptuous of me to think that ANYONE would be interested, let alone everyone. The reason I started this is just to get myself in the habit of writing on a regular basis, so if you keep the expectations low, we should have some kind of fun.

The truth is that I'm the kind of person who naturally puts it ALL out there, in all areas of my life. It's just the way I am - reckless, I guess. I jump in with both feet and then deal with the consequences as they arise. I think that will be the general theme of posts here. The sort of consequences that show up, the attention that they demand and the little bit of wisdom that can be gained from each one.

If you're a gawker, the type that slows down at the scene but would certainly not want to get dna on your clean shirt, you'll probably enjoy this like a bad reality show. If even saying the word "intimacy" makes you turn red, you should probably leave now. And if you want to play in the mud yourself, welcome! I hope you'll visit often and post comments.
Holy Rover

Sometimes I like to talk about Jesus. Well, that's not exactly true. I like to think about Jesus. I rarely talk about him, unless I know I'm among other Jesus-thinkers. If you talk about Jesus when you're just hanging out, people tend to get uncomfortable and think you're "one of THOSE people" - the unfortunate stereotype that has defined our religion for the past decade or longer...Born Again (TM), ultra-conservative, narrow-minded, white, wealthy Republican, etc.

This is a true phenomenon and one that has us Christian People on the defense these days. Look around and you'll see a rash of recent books by Liberal Christians and articles about Democratic attempts to take back religion. It's an expected backlash to the current political and cultural landscape in America. But it's mostly just another chapter in a long history of division within the church that sadly takes the focus off of Jesus - who he was, what he taught and what he did which had nothing to do with condemning gay marriage, bombing abortion clinics, spreading democracy or hating sinners and nonbelievers.

It's like a version of a game I used to play when I was a kid in gym class. Two teams, one on either end of the gym, arms locked and taking turns calling, "Red Rover, Red Rover, send Jesus right over!" As Christians, we could go on and on like this forever, each calling Jesus to come right over. But at the end of "Red Rover", there were no losers. Everyone eventually ends up on the winning team, each with a few pointless battle scars.

Light Green

If naming this blog is any indication of how obsessive I'll be with the content, I'm telling y'all right now to lower your expectations. But today I visited Esther's blog and saw the entry below. This is part of a very funny series of posts from her little girl journal when she first came to the U.S from Korea. (Go here to see more...http://www.xanga.com/liljjing)

So that's it - light green. My space to stick the ramblings in my head. Be warned - this could get ugly!

I like almost every colors, I like light green best, because it look
so honest and I like to be in honest. Thank You so much God!
